What lies before me

I have always enjoyed an adventure.

From weekend trips to parenting to living abroad.  And my experience has taught me the best trips are less about where I go, but about with whom I travel.  I don’t remember the names of all of the towns and cities I have visited, but I will never forget the belly-laughs of losing a hiking boot to ankle deep mud or the sly laughter of having scaled walls to get to hidden treasures.  Each trip–whether half way around the world or right here in my office–has its own soundtrack; it may include music, or laughter, or cries, or the sounds of nature around us, or private conversations, or the roar of a crowd, or most sacred of all: silence.

I love the intimate secrets trustingly revealed on these adventures and the sacramental sharing of a moment no one has ever had before or will have again.  Some of my best trips have been completely “fly by the seat of your pants” and some have been meticulously planned and had an accompanying “travel manifesto” (much thanks to my husband!)

So set out for adventure.  The road is calling.
